Abyss is configured using an agent configuration file. It controls all of the aspects of your agent as well as the environment in which it runs.

abyss itself is 2 components that sit between your ACP client like Zed and your agent.

The client proxy runs on your host and is what Zed invokes and connects to. The client proxy then starts a Docker container based on your configuration.

Before you can use abyss, you’ll need a few things:

Docker installed, with permissions to run containers
Authentication for your agent (API keys, or whatever your LLM requires) configured in Pi.

Currently Pi is the only agent with pre-built images for you to use.

I’m currently using acpx to test. Testing in Zed is painful due to it tending to get “stuck” on certain kinds of failures, and Abyss not being stable enough to avoid those failures reliably so far.
